Interior Design | Home Staging
After finishing college for Industrial Design, I was eager to get into some sort of design field. I started working for a home stager nearby, but found I wasn't getting an opportunity to actually design. Since I did find the work interesting, I looked for other companies to work for.
I was hired on as a Jr Designer at another agency, one that I found lined up more accurately with my own taste and workflow. After a succesful year, the position for Creative Director was offered to me and I accepted. From there I took over all client communications, training of staff, and oversight of design projects. As well as all other managerial and leadership duties associated with corporate-model small-business and project management. Daily tasks included leading morning meetings with leadership staff in the other offices and with my on-site staff, performing site-visits for upcoming and prospective projects, initial design and floor plans for each project, photo documentation, recommended upgrades and repairs for clients, limited interior design services such as paint and fixture specifications, creative direction and problem solving for my staff during installations, and final approval of each installation. I had to take into careful consideration the clients' wants and needs, the demographic of buyers in the each respective area, the architectual style and era of each home, and the needs and capabilities of my staff. All while strictly working within the parameters of the brand and business model. The most important skills I took away from this role are: Pallette coordination, brand consistency, client management and satisfaction, and team work from the role of leadership.
